XNY Genes is the brainchild of Drs. Heard & Heard-Garris, a sibling pair, that bring history, science, and policy together to elevate and activate organizations and individuals around social justice and health equity issues.
XNY Genes was with the single mission: to bring about greater social equity through partnerships with forward-thinking organizations who have the same mission in mind. We approach each of our clients with fresh eyes to develop customized, unique strategies.
Though we’ve grown since our founding, we’re still the same agency at heart. We meet the needs of organizations of all sizes with a fine attention to detail that only a smaller, hands-on consulting agency can provide. Dr. Heard-Garris is a well-respected, national leader in the field of health equity. Her expertise includes child and adolescent health, structural racism, adversity, and culture change. Dr. Heard-Garris has had numerous media appearances, including CNN/Sesame Street, NPR, NBC, and countless others. Her goal as co-founder of XNY Genes, LLC is to make equity actionable.
Nevin J. Heard, Ph.D., NCC
EDUCATOR - COUNSELOR - RESEARCHER
Dr. Heard’s work focuses on multicultural and social justice issues; centering the intersectional realities of sexual and
racial minorities, and those affected by HIV/AIDS. Dr. Heard has spent over a decade in diversity, equity, and inclusion work focused on transformation on intrapsychic, interpersonal, community, and organizational levels. Dr. Heard helps folx mobilize to bring about radical and unapologetic inclusion as a co-founder of XNY Genes, LLC.
